Dental Hygiene/Periodontal Health
In addition to the meticulous cleaning, polishing, and examination of your teeth, we also take the time to help our patients develop proper oral hygiene habits at home. We will evaluate your hygiene techniques and make suggestions to your routine where needed. Our doctors and hygienists will also offer preventative measures such as dental sealants or nightguards to protect against bruxism & TMJ. If we feel that you are suffering from a gum infection or more severe gum disease, we will recommend scaling and polishing the roots of your teeth. These measures help prevent bone loss and maintain your natural teeth.
Oral Cancer Screenings
During a dental exam, the doctor will check your neck and oral tissues for lumps, red or white patches or recurring sore areas.
Screening for early changes in the oral tissue can help detect cancer at a stage when it can be more successfully treated.
Gum Disease
Gum disease affects 87% of Americans. Children as young as 2 can have early gum infections. Bacteria mix with food to produce a sticky mass around the teeth. These bacteria then produce an acid that irritates the gums and produces an infection.
If this gum infection isn't controlled, it will spread to the bone around the teeth. When the bone is destroyed, the teeth become loose and they are eventually lost or expensive gum surgery will be required.
"At first, when they told me I had gum disease I was scared, but they made me feel at ease. Going through the process (to treat gum disease) was easy thanks to them. I was and still am very happy with the results and would do it again in a minute. The people here are very professional. "
